Used Car Spotlight: 2011 Toyota Camry LE

Toyota CamryTwo months ago, the Toyota Camry became the best-selling car in North America. Wind back two years and it’s not hard to see why the extremely popular car became even more of a hit.

Car enthusiasts and contrarians will love to hate the Camry for its popularity and relative blandness. It’s not a supercar, a muscle car, or a luxury car, and it’s not particularly exciting to drive. But at the end of the day, what most people want is a car that is affordable, comfortable, efficient, and dependable—and no car excels at providing that entire package quite as well as the Camry.

To be fair, I could actually be understating the pleasure of driving it. The base engine is a respectable and powerful 2.5-liter four-cycle which should feel rewarding to anyone not trying to bring the car to a race. Furthermore, the ride is cushy and quiet even at highway speeds, there’s plenty of room for comfort in the cabin, and it has excellent crash test scores.

So even if you are a car enthusiast who prefers sexier performance cars, you still have to admit—there’s good reason the Camry has made it this far.
